I just received my congressional nomination from Congressman Tom Reed in New York State. However, my portal still has not been open due to low SAT scores. Since I am not academically qualified at the moment (I will be taking the SAT again) but I have received the nomination, does this make me eligible for the prep school? Also, will West Point give me follow up directions on the portal once my nomination has been processed? Any information helps!

Only West Point can tell you if you're eligible for USMAPS. I imagine they will contact you after updating your portal with the nomination IF they are going to offer you prep school, or they may wait until you submit January test scores (assuming you're taking the January test). I think that's the last one you can submit for the class of 2018.

Not likely, but you need to contact either your Regional Commander or local liaison officer to find out where you stand.

you are not a recruited athlete, solider, or underrepresented minority, your chance of getting to USMAPS is very very low.

USMAPS....

Your RC will make the recommendation for MAPS to start. But I agree with memberLG

There is still the small possibility of an AoG sponsored SAP scholarship. If you make your RC aware that you are willing, he can nominate you for a scholarship if he deems you qualified. You must then be approved by the AoG. However, I believe you still may have to be 3Q'd. Contact your RC about that. USMA Associate of Graduates will pay for you to go to a military school for one year (you will be responsible for 1/3 of the tuition). If it works out that you maintain a high GPA you will most likely earn an appointment the following year. I believe there are only 50 of these available to prospective cadets. My DS is in his 2nd semester of an AoG sponsorship at Marion Military Academy and is looking forward to an appointment as his school has a 100% appointment rate over the last several years through this program.

Yes, you should be 3Q to be considered for an AOG Civil Prep offer. Usually, you have to have that nom as well. Civil Prep is for a few great candidates who just missed the cut of getting into WP to go for a year and reapply with the very high likelihood of gaining admission (it's about as good as a LOA).

If those SATs don't come up, then the app won't open and I wouldn't even ask your RC about this option.
