My son got a call by the guy who interviewed him for ROTC yesterday. He asked my son if he recieved a West Point appointment, and my son indicated that he had. It was a very nice call, and the guy was very supportive, saying that if there was anything he could do or say to sway him to go with the ROTC option, they would really love to have him.
Both my son and I feel that it is a shame to have multiple Fantastic options knowing that one or more will go unused. To turn down a full four year scholarship at what had for years been my sons top school choice says a lot about how difficult these choices are. And I know at the same time he still thinks about how nice it would be to do the ROTC option.
Then today he recieved his certificate of the ROTC scholarship award, which is very impressive, and looks much like his WP appointment certificate. Sure makes a daddy proud.
