I have been trying to contact a congressman regarding some questions I had about nominations. As I've mentioned before I do not have residency in the states, but I am still hoping I will be able to apply for a nomination in the state my parents worked and paid taxes in. Does anyone know how long it should take them to reply? (I sent an email just over a week ago). Is email the best form of contact, or should I call one of their offices/leave a message, etc.

Keep in mind that this is the congressional “off season” for nominations. The previous class is all done and most the next class’ applications won’t be starting until the end of summer. Did you email the nominations coordinator? If so, they may not even be looking at that email address and are focusing on their other jobs. I would give it another week and then email the general email address for the congressional office. If that fails to get a response, then call.

The congressperson's office should have a designated Service Academy Coordinator on their staff. That is the person you should target for communications. As mentioned above, most congressional offices are not focused on nominations at this point as the window for those applications is still a long ways off.

If you have some unusual situation relating to residency and therefore which MOC to apply to seems like a reasonable thing to get clarification from the person in the MOC's office who handles NOM applications. As mentioned above, it might take a bit of time to get the next round of NOM's going, so likely that is the reason for the delay in getting a response. I would make sure for any other routine questions, you have read through the entire MOC NOM website which has answers to the most commonly asked questions. It is not a good idea to contact them for answers to things already answered on their website.
