USCGA TWE with an offer of "counseling" if admissions rep is contacted.
Has anyone engaged in the counseling and if so, what was it like and was it worth it?

I have not had any students receive this kind of input. However, I recommend reaching out and participating. My assumption is that the counselor will provide some good details around 'why' you missed an appointment and ways that you can improve your résumé to allow you to earn one next year. Typically, 25% or so of all cadets/midshipmen at the SAs do not arrive directly out of high school. Many attend a prep school or go to university for a year or two. By the way, all three of my students that followed this route earned an appointment the following year as freshmen in college. One of the students will graduate from USAFA in late May.

Good luck!

My AO last year explained the areas that I needed to improve on and what was good that I had. I would say that it is worth it because it can give you a better look into what you need to do if you reapply.
