COVID-19 Horrible Two Weeks

I have worked in IT all my life. I currently work for a company that provides IT services for other companies. Some of our customers are house hold names. This past two weeks have been absolutely horrible. We have staff all over the world and as various countries have imposed working from home, or in the case of US various states, managing to continue to provide essential IT services to these companies whilst trying to protect our own staff has been a nightmare. I work in the healthcare vertical so as you may imagine for many of our customers not only has it been about maintaining current services in many cases we have had to also try and increase capacity.

One of our employees (not in the US) was defined as a critical employee, and therefore exempt from a ‘Stay at Home’ order, was on his way to the office when he stopped by the police and beaten. He had all the relevant documents with him to prove his status but that didn’t stop him from receiving a beating.

I know there are many people working harder than me and having to deal with more stress but gee this past two weeks has been more than enough for me!

How are others coping?

I can empathize. I, too, work in a field and for a company such that I am considered one of the exempt, critical employees for national security and defense reasons. Many of my coworkers can work from home, depending on people like you to keep them connected. I, unfortunately, must be on site to accomplish my work and commitment to the country, even as a civilian. I am a veteran, though.
We were given a letter to print out and told to keep it on our person at all times in case we were stopped by authorities to "prove" we had exemption to be out. Will it allow safe passage? I don't know.
My DH is IT, also a veteran, but he is able to work from home.
Coping? Numb, hoping it is a dream (nightmare) at times. DD is a cadet restricted and isolated at USAFA with everything changing by the minute, hour, day.
Hang in there, PLEASE!
We all depend on each other more than ever at this time, even if remotely and from a distance.
