Covid - AMI request what tests does Dr need to do?

Hi my 2025 hopeful received a questionnaire asking if he had Covid. He had it back in Nov of 2020 and responded affirmatively. He recently received an AMI and needs to see his doctor for a follow-up. He called his Dodmerb and spoke with his assigned agent. He asked what specific tests he should as his doctor to preform and she didn't know. She said that Dodmerb would prefer that he went to his own physician (which we are doing) but wasn't sure what tests needed to be done. Anyone else successfully go for and submit results? Just don't want to waste time by not having right tests preformed. I believe he is back to 100% and could pass any/all cardiovascular tests. Here is a some of letter from Dodmerb talking about the exam needed. Thanks so much!

PHYSICIAN: Department of Defense regulations direct that all applicants who have been
diagnosed with COVID-19, with or without symptoms, cannot be qualified for accession until:
1) all symptoms have resolved AND 2) 28 days have passed following any recommended home
isolation or quarantine AND THEN, 3) you have been evaluated by your PCM NO EARLIER THAN 23
February 2021 to include the following: PCM report should include history and pertinent
clinical exam, to include the cardiopulmonary system, to rule out any sequelae of COVID-19
infection.

I'm going to guess that @MullenLE will get you on the right track (that being said, it will likely be your DS that needs to reach out to him when indicated, not the parent). Mr. Mullen rounds on this forum frequently and will likely respond to your thread. Sounds like your DS's primary care provider needs to do an examination, noting history of CV19, including/focusing exam on cardiopulmonary to rule out sequelae of CV19 and note specifically such in the progress note (e.g. normal cardiopulmonary exam findings and no signs or symptoms of CV19 sequelae). Again, though, Mr. Mullen will likely have your official answer.

This is exactly correct. And the physician will know what to do in #3:

We just got this letter today. How did this go. I know our time is very short to get it done and can't afford any mistakes

Your son, the applicant, has these instructions: He should give this to the Doc and the Doc will know what to do :wiggle:

We just got this same notification TODAY. It does not give a deadline. I called our PCP office and they are not familiar with what is needed (at least the front desk). Can he be seen by a NP or does it need to be a physcician?

"...REQUIRES AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR PRIVATE PHYSICIAN"

It states that the applicant had a positive test result and should be evaluated for these three things:
1) all symptoms have resolved AND
2) 28 days have passed following any recommended home
isolation or quarantine AND THEN,
3) you have been evaluated by your PCM NO EARLIER THAN 23

February 2021 to include the following: PCM report should include history and pertinent
clinical exam, to include the cardiopulmonary system, to rule out any sequelae of COVID-19
infection.

I can't speak for front desk personnel, but this is the specific requirement. If the front desk personnel don't understand, they should ask the Doc.

As far as a deadline, DoDMERB doesn't issue deadlines, but I'm sure your son knows the deadlines for his Admission office, depending on the Academy he's applying to. But the general rule of thumb is to complete all requirements ASAP. :wiggle:

Thank you. I presume a visit with a NP is acceptable?

OK, let's review : REQUIRES AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR PRIVATE PHYSICIAN" :wiggle:
