DS got email @ 5:55 pm EST KY, last name begins with "H", no appointment. DS will be an Air Force officer through AFROTC, Auburn University, build up his flight hours and is determined to get accepted into Flight Training program. Good Luck to all your DS's & DD's with the educational path they take; with the parental support I have seen through these posts, they will all succeed..
War Eagle! Auburn hasa greatAFROTC program!

To all who have gotten the dreaded "TWE" my heart is breaking for you.... I am happy that everyone has a back up plan in place, most of which include ROTC. I am so proud and humbled by the amazing young people on this forum who want to serve our country! Our daughter was honored to received an offer for USAFA Prep and will be headed out to Colorado Springs in July. She will reapply for Appointment to the Class of 2020; I look forward to following the threads as that time nears to see how all of you are doing! Again, you are all amazing young people and you will find success in any path you choose!

DD just got her letter of non acceptance. Bummer. Good luck to all of the rest of you still waiting!
When one door closes, another one opens. Take all the lessons learned in this process and go forward and have a great life. Have the kind of life that would make the AF regret its decision not to take her. Good luck to you and your daughter. She is certainly amazing to have made it this far.

All the candidates that received a disappointing, no appointment offer, should be very proud of themselves for getting this far. If your plan B includes AFROTC, continue with your military dream. You will all graduate with the same rank of 2nd Lieutenant; be proud of that and your continued success. Good Luck to All!!

I certainly second that. Part of something I posted on another thread, might be appropriate here:

. . .I am probably a tad older than most on this list and seen my share of "stuff" over the years. One thing I have learned is that no matter how tough something seems now, it is for the best; the hardest challenges yield the greatest opportunities.
Through this admissions process I connected with someone from my small high school. He did not make it to AFA, and went to a state college. Spent some time at Embry-Riddle, and a few years later, a bird Col behind the stick of AF-1.

You all start off as a 2Lt and you will all make it to two bars about the same time -- where you go from there is up to you, and does not have a lot to do with where you went for undergrad.

TWE for me as well... Oh well. Class of 2020 sounds better than class of 2019 anyways
PJdaines love your attitude!! If you can swing it, check out Greystone Preparatory School @ Schreiner University in Kerrville, TX. My DS from UT-01 spent the last year there. It was the perfect fit plus college level classes. He found out yesterday from his MOC that his 2nd attempt has put him in class 2019. I am confident that his time at Greystone made the difference. Will be looking for your name on the 2020 list. Good luck.
