Is it possible to cross commission at a school in ROTC? I was just offered a scholarship to attend a school that does not currently have an active AFROTC Det, but only has AROTC. Is it possible to do the four years in AROTC, and then CC into the Air Force when I graduate?

Has it happened before? Yes.

Would I even bet a pair of my shoes in these times that it will happen? No!

ROTC is not cheap for any branch. Training costs a lot of money. Yes, they are training officers to lead, but their missions and programs are so different.

Example:
Come your C300 yr (jr in AFROTC) as it is now if you want rated you will go up for a board. Non-rated is sr yr., because those not selected for rated will compete on non-rated.

X commissioning is placing a fly int the ointment. They can not properly plan because 1st and foremost AROTC must agree to release them.

Again notice C300 yr for AFROTC, AROTC is MSIV (sr yr).

Additionally what would be the benefit to the Army to release a top cadet to the AF when they know they have them from a contractual position.

Flipside if you are not a top cadet why would the AF take you when they too have enough contracted... beginning C300 yr.

I understand your desire to know if it is possible, but it is equally important to understand how difficult it would be to do this and the reasons why.

Just curious,

I am assuming when you state scholarship you mean merit from the college and not AFROTC, because AFROTC does not tie the scholarship to any particular school.

Have you checked into X town AFROTC units?

Hi Pima!

When I was referring to a scholarship, I was meaning both a merit and sports scholarship.

Does the college have a Xtown AFROTC unit?
