Congratulations to your DD! I have soft spot for the place having studied and lived there for a year after college in 1978-79 and later married there in May 1980. My wife often says she that when she was 21, she never dreamt her future son would be a 2LT in the US Army. At that time, Poland was communist and in the heart of the Warsaw Pact.

We were there in March 2016 and visiting old friends. On their coffee table was the Catholic News Weekly with this cover:

That was in March and that's not the Washington Post, New York Times or MSNBC.

Your DD will find fantastic people who are very well-informed and who are extremely proud of being the first Soviet Bloc country to chuck their communist government, long before the Berlin Wall fell. Back in the days of Communism, I don't think there was a country where the US was more loved by the average folks out on the street. In a street fight, I want the Poles on my side.

The Poles were second only to the Brits in committing people and materiel in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. (The second and much less popular endeavor).
