CULP and CIET summer 2015 AROTC

Just got an email yesterday from our MS1 instructor to us contracted cadets, and were told to pick our top 3 choices of dates.
CIET Regimental Dates:

1st Regiment: 5 Jun - 6 July
2nd Regiment: 9 Jun - 10 July
3rd Regiment: 13 Jun - 14 July
4th Regiment: 17 Jun - 18 July
5th Regiment: 25 Jun - 26 July
6th Regiment: 29 Jun - 30 July
7th Regiment: 7 Jul - 7 Aug
8th Regiment: 11 Jul - 11 Aug
9th Regiment: 15 Jul - 15 Aug

So MS2s are going to be screwed out of CULP because they have a new program for ms1s! How is this fair? My son is required to complete an international experience in order to graduate. He's contracted and cant just leave to study abroad. They have no j term and he will have his ldac (or whatever its called now) training next summer. His college was accepting culp to meet this requirement. When will they know for sure? What came out of mondays summer training planning mtg?

It was my understanding that MS2's were not going to be required to attend CIET, that should leave him open for CULP if he applied for this year.

He can do study abroad as a contracted cadet. He can do CULP as an MS2, it's actually the primary year for CULP. The planning meeting is still ongoing (they're more like planning weeks). I have a friend (a CPT) who is at the planning meeting and it's less about scheduling regiment's than getting all of the other big things worked out (I.e ranges for marksmanship, different training ares and what's needed, and the other stuff needed for all of the training to happen).

Fairness goes out the window, it's never about what's fair. (I learned to get a lot more stress-free sleep when I learned this)

I read previously in this thread that due to the new ciet program consuming ft knox resources and because they are already almost 2 months behind from previous years they won't have enough time to get those chosen all ramped up. Perhaps this was inaccurate info.

That would be interesting info. The folks at Knox that do CULP only work on CULP and nothing else. They are contractors (and Univ. of North GA has the contract) and not green suiters or DA Civilians that do other things for USACC. Additionally, CULP is an initiative being pushed by USACC and the Chief of Staff so I wouldn't read into any of the rumors saying CULP has been cut or reduced until something official is released. When I was still getting CULP emails a few months back, everything looked to be normal, but we'll see.

DSisMSII. Many opportunities available. He is giddy awaiting his opportunity. If nothing, we'll dig up an internship for federal agency we had to turn down. I hope A plan works. C plan is home with his brother. Win win

My Contracted MSII son got a call from his PMS this morning informing him that he will be attending CEIT, and asking what his preferred time slot is. He didn't previously ask for CEIT FYI... Not sure if all contracted MSIIs are going or if their BTN/BGE just has to fill a certain number of slots. On the other hand, he volunteers for everything so maybe they assumed. Last week he volunteered for a detail without knowing what it was (we need 8 contracted cadets). He got to go spend the day with an artillery unit (HIMARS) at Ft. Bragg during a live fire, and absolutely loved it.

Awe, the old "Voluntold" scenario.

My son, who is commissioning this May, was told that there will be some newly commissioned 2Lts that will be Voluntold to work at CLC and possibly CIET, if they don't get enough volunteers, this summer if their BOLC dates don't start until after summer.

At least it sounds like the cadets are being told whether or not they are attending CIET this summer. Now they just need to get a schedule.

Thanks. He's going to Lithuania. The letter came directly from CC, dated today and he said at least two other MSIIs in his battalion got their's today too. I expect there will be quite a few going out over the next few days. According to the letter, they had 2300 application but ended up with funding for less than 1000. So we are very grateful that he made the cut in a tough year, numbers wise.

Lithuania sounds like a great opportunity.

Wow, a 44% acceptance rate, a Tip of the Hat to your son.

Just wondering, by letter do you mean hard copy or electronic? I'm at a satellite school and I rarely hear much of anything from my BN until I ask about 1,000 times, but I don't want to keep pestering them. I didn't receive any emails about CULP from anyone. It'd be nice to know if I didn't get selected either though so I can start making other plans around CLC.

Check the army cadet portal and see if the decision is posted there. It should have your application and you should be able to view if you were accepted or denied, if a decision has been made. Also, monitor your .mil email as you should get an email there as well.

My son was also selected to go to Lithuania. He found the notification in his spam folder of his school email.

Kellen0176, my son said it was an email directly from someone at Cadet Command. He didn't hear anything (yet) from his battalion. And, yes, he was pestering too, as recently as Thursday. I don't think he heard anything at all between the time he applied and yesterday.

DanGir, That's really cool. We'll have to compare notes when we get closer to the date. :)

Thank you Bull, DanGirl, and armydaughter. I checked the Army Cadet Portal and all it still says is certified/submitted and nothing on AKO account (that's email I gave).
