It does not appear that DS was selected for CULP. When he logs on it says all missions are full. He thinks it may be related to a delay in admin processing his security clearance. Is that possible? Are there any other opportunities for MS1s for the summer that he would still be eligible to apply for? Thanks!

I'd second project go. You can be an absolute beginner for some of the programs and the languages are the ones most people find hard. Also you don't have to transfer the grades back to your home school in order to participate so there's little to no downside.

The other thing you may have him try are some of the undersubscribed internships. There are a whole bunch of new ones this year - your son can find them in the ROTC blackboard (or pm me if you want and I can send you the list). Don't pay any attention to the fact they say preference is given to MSIIIs - just don't have him apply to the really popular ones. Try the new broadcasting ones, CPPIP, Museum Internship. If he tailors his essay to his top choice and really expresses an interest then there is a good shot he could get one.... and if he doesn't he is at least familar with the process of putting together a resume, letters of recommendations, and an essay so when next year roles around he will be ahead of the game.

I assume your son is contracted since he was able to apply for CULP. He can also compete for any Airborne School slots that his unit has for this Summer.

@MohawkArmyROTC - Do CULP winners get notified all at one time, in one batch? Or are there several release dates?

They should all get notified around the same time as it is a central board from Cadet Command.

Yes. 4 year scholarship winner and contracted early September after successfully completing his APFT. Any idea of the chances of an MS1 being selected for airborne school?

His school will create their own OML and pick who they send to Airborne school. Most ROTC programs send Freshman and Sophomore to the Airborne School slots.
