Current 3-Degrees: Ask Us Anything!

How was powered flight? Out of the three, which was your favorite?
  • Powered flight - 4 flights with officers. Super fun, super lowkey, super low threat
  • Jump - super fun, really hype, really easy
  • Soaring - (I'm biased because I'm an IP) my favorite by far. More challenging than the other programs - the solo rate is around 30-40%. But super rewarding. I had zero flight experience before USAFA and I was able to solo in 12 flights. Now I get to fly almost every other day and teach other cadets how to be instructors.

Is there a limit to how many clubs you can be apart of? I'm really interested in the Wings of Blue, but also the Battlefield Airmen (Special Warfare) club. Thank you!

Not sure if it’s confirmed or not, but rumors are floating around that we are going to be at Jacks instead of Piñon, so it’ll be interesting to see how things change for that.
One of my good buddies is the CST cadet commander this summer and confirmed that 26 is going to Piñon.

There’s no limit, but you’ll quickly come to find there’s a limit on your time. I’m not sure about BAC, but WOB requires a bunch of your time.

What was BCT like and how did you prepare yourself for it? What were some of your favorite moments? Least favorite?

For person B:
How did USAFA BCT compare to enlisted basic training?

If a kid is coming in with a PPL in hand, what are the opportunities for advancing that training while in the AFA?

The Aviation Club would be great for them, as they're currently doing instrument ground school for only ~$80. If they want to keep working on flying, they can join the Flying Team (although it's super competitive to get in).

Based on the academic calendar the 1st summer period ends and the 2nd period begins on Saturday 6/24. Wondering what time those who are in the 2nd period need to report.

Thanks
