Current cadet, ask me questions!

Hey sauce boss, I don't know if that is you in your profile picture but this is usually an anonymous forum so if it is I would probably remove it. That being said good on you for helping future cadets. -c/o 2023 <3

Hello! I am currently a plebe at USMA. I checked the service academy forums very often throughout my application process looking for answers, so I now want to return the favor. If you have any questions, please ask and I will try my best to answer them. When asking your questions, note that this year at the academy and my CBT experience differ greatly from previous years.
I'm making an assumption here you are a woman! What is it like to be a female plebe?

Hey there, I'm also a female plebe. Some parts of Beast were a little frustrating because we just physically can't do some of the things guys can. As a girl on the shorter side, the rucks especially were pretty rough for me. I was behind a 6'2" guy once and the cadre yelled at me to "close the gap," and then when I started running, yelled at me to stop running even though there was no way I could catch up just by walking faster (I guess I need to work on my range walk). The leg tucks are also tough for a lot of girls; both my roommates failed the two ACFTs we took over the summer, so I would definitely suggest working on those before you get here. When you get into the academic year, though, being a female plebe is pretty much the same as being a male plebe because you really don't get treated any different. Most guys here are pretty cool so you'll get along with them easily.

My high school is super tiny and only has one sport: archery. Will this put me at a disadvantage?

idk maybe. im sure west point admissions will somehow find out that your high school is super tiny. maybe try to find something else that can show you are athletically fit. find a sports club outside of school such as fencing, martial arts, etc. Also, do really well on your CFA because that might be the biggest factor in considering your physical fitness

Alright, I'll try to do that. Thank you so much for your help! :)
I'm having a bit of trouble with the pull ups part of the CFA. Do have any tips?

For me, I found that the biggest thing for me is consistency. I would have to keep doing them routinely so that my pull up numbers dont decrease

I bought a pull up bar for my room and it looked something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Iron-Gym-Tot...ised-search-10&pf_rd_t=BROWSE&pf_rd_i=3408471

I recommend a pull up bar that is in this shape so that it is seated on the top of the door frame. I put the bar in the door frame of my bedroom and every time I entered/exited the room, I would do a couple of pull ups and then go about with whatever I had to do. I tried to do at least 1 more pull up than the previous set. If I couldn't do a pull up, I would do some arm hangs or several negatives. It's always hard at first, but doing it every day will make it easier. Rock climbing for fun can also help develop upper body strength, but I never got into it.
