Hey if anyone wants to put questions here I'll answer them when I have time. I know the lead up to beast can be stressful.

what are the requirements for running in beast, and how fast/long should I be able to run for at the minimum? do we do a lot of running?

If you do not make weight for R-day and are just shy of meeting the tape measurements, will they dismiss you or re-evaluate you at the end of BEAST?

I was curious about the parachute team. How may people try out and how many people make it in for each class? Do you know what the physical requirements are like?

Yeah so parachute is one of the teams you can only try out for plebe year so if you're interested definitely go for it. I'm not sure how many people total try out but 10 make it. There isn't any official physical requirements but you will be smoked for literally a full day of around 14 hours doing various things like rucking, the acft, and other physical events. They purposefully don't make it public what they do bc part of how hard it is is not knowing exactly what you'll do next. There is also multiple parts to the tryout too so it starts with some essays on why you want to join, then the smoke session day, then if they let you through there is an interview, then it ends with a test run in the wind tunnel. I'd say just be overall fit. The smoke session is more of a grit and teamwork test bc I know a kid who didn't make it through the whole day bc he got sent to the hospital for dehydration or something but they let him through and he made the team. Def make sure you're working out beforehand but yeah it's basically more about if you'll be a good teammate.

There really isn't a requirement other than being able to run a few miles. They put you in groups based on absolute so if you're really good you'll be running pretty fast, and if you're pretty bad then you'll just be in the slowest group. We ran about 1-2 times a week for distance, but you have to run to get to the various pt fields at times. The cadre will egg you on but they literally have to run at your pace if you fall out so there isn't any repurcussions for it. Don't worry about it too much but I'd recommend just being comfortable running for three miles at whatever pace you can get to in however long you have.

As far as I know you definitely won't be dismissed and they actually don't weigh you at the beginning of beast as far as I remember. You'll do height and weight after beast is over when you get to your company. For that if you fail tape testing twice, they put you on a program and reevaluate you in a month I believe. So definitely nothing to worry about for beast and they honestly are pretty generous with it in companies especially right after summer training bc most people have weird weight coming out of beast and cft.

Don’t look to meet minimums. You should be well within standards to include being able to do well on the ACFT. This is something within your control right now. You will not be the one in control at BEAST.
Your preparation will allow you to help your classmates who will struggle, and they will return the favor to you when you struggle at something. It will happen.
What will happen if you report and can’t meet standards? They will notice you and you will receive a lot of attention. This attention will come from your Cadre who will quickly become your “friends “. They will give you more things to do than you would like , and often speak to you in a loud and caring voice.

If you are seeking this kind of a relationship with Cadre, then don’t heed my advice.

This might be an odd question, but how hot does it generally get during the summer?

I hope to get thoughts on the following...I have heard through the "grapevine" that wearing black boots socks with low quarters can help with fit challenges. Are "dress socks" strictly adhered to?
