I am always interested in deckplate (right there) observations.
Typical class size at NAPS is roughly 240. I have never known whether that includes the small number of USCGA prepsters who attend.
Class of 2026 profile shows 195 came out of NAPS. I am sure, just like USNA, they have decades of data on voluntary and involuntary attrition. Medical, academic, conduct, military performance, etc., for involuntary. Voluntary - it’s hard, and some realize their dream of USNA is something they no longer desire. For prior enlisted with actual Fleet or Corps assignments in their past (not just initial schoolhouse), who rented apartments, had cars, lived with SOs, drank as they wished, lived a normal young adult service person life, NAPS is a sprinkling of cold water, with a big tub of icy water awaiting plebe year, where it’s no cars, no drinking even if 21 and you’ve got people a few years younger than you with no Fleet or Corps experience yelling at you. Some say “nah, not worth it, give me orders to finish out my enlistment somewhere.”
