Current Preppie (C/O 2020) here to answer questions!

My son is currently in this year's prep class and LOVING it. He is a prior and has recently submitted his paperwork for the academy admission. His request for a nomination though went in to the politicians offices past their deadlines. I am fearful of losing the possibility of getting in if he does not get that nomination. He has said to quit worrying as he is in charge of all that now, says he is fine and has kindly assured me that part of my mom job is over and all is good. Can you get into the academy without the nomination if you are a prior doing really well at the prep?
I had the same worry last year. I seem to think my son applied late for a nomination because he was at the Prep. Check with your congressmen or senator. I think there must still be time. There is a possibility to get a nomination from the secretary of the USAF. When I was worried last year many tried to allay my fears by telling me that if they stay out of trouble, do well in school, they will get into the Academy. Good Luck!

Oh I meant when was the offer to prep school made? I was wondering if it was near the end after most appointments were given out or do some kids find out early on (like now)? Thank you!

Our son is a prior so they may be different but he was told by his commander on April 29 and yes we had long since given up

My son found out on April 4th. I think the prep is similar to the academy. You can find out up until the day you report.

Deborah, your son is spot on. [emoji4] Our son was a preppie last year. He went through the same thing. They take care of everything themselves. Your job, as a Mom, has definitely gotten easier. Just make sure that table is set with all his favorites for Thanksgiving! That's what he truly wants from you. [emoji106]

Thanks Unitedwebe. I have only asked him to be home for Christmas and to take advantage of all he can while in that wonderful state . Several of the preppies are going snowboarding over the holidays and that is a LOT better than any Turkey and dressing![emoji23]
