Congrats to everyone that has accepted an appointment for USMAPS 2023 and those that will accept in the weeks to come! USMAPS is a unique pathway to West Point that will strengthen you in many ways. I am a current Prepster (2022) and prior-enlisted soldier here at USMAPS and would be happy to help answer any questions about CCBT, re-application process, life at Prep, leadership, etc.
Shoot away with any questions!

Is there any specific boots you would recommend for CCBT? I am currently looking and trying to buy a pair so I have time to break them in. I have hear good things about Garmont, Oakley and Belleville but am not sure which to purchase.

Also beside the service academy forum, is there any other way to reach out to others that have been accepted to USMAPS. I just would like to talk to other that might be going to the same thing I am. Yet I am not sure how to do that

I would STRONGLY recommend the Garmont T-8 Bifidas - these are a very popular pair at West Point and the Army in general for their durability, comfort, and how light they are. I have two pairs of the T-8s and have put them through many rough conditions - they still are in great condition.

Almost every year, a future Cadet Candidate (CC) will usually start a class Instagram page - this will likely be your best bet for contacting other CCs. A Facebook page for USMAPS parents should open up soon as well which is another great way to receive updates.

Our son just received notification in his portal that he didn’t get an appointment to West Point. However, USMAPS was a recommendation due to SAT scores. Does this denial now mean USMAPS is not even a possibility now or will that update separately in his portal?

Denial for a direct appointment will often soon result in a USMAPS appointment for qualified candidates. A separate appointment to USMAPS will populate in the candidate portal if selected by admissions. I would recommend DS reach out to Field Force Representative to see if USMAPS is an option for him.

Thank you so much for taking time to reply. He conveyed he will reach out to his field force representative tomorrow.

I am a current active duty soldier at Fort Riley, and I’ve accepted my offer of admissions to USMAPS. I’ve been trying to find/receive my orders to USMAPS and I haven’t been successful in my attempts. How did you receive your orders? Did you get them through your military email? This process is super confusing, especially without very much guidance regarding PCS orders. Any closure would be very much appreciated.

Congrats on your acceptance! I myself was National Guard, so I did not encounter this issue - however, my active peers that I've talked to all said that they were able to receive their orders through their S1 or someone else in their command. The best point of contact for this would be your specific Soldier Admissions Officer at West Point so that they can walk you through the exact process.

My son accepted his appointment to USMAPS 2023 and we're thrilled for him. I've seen a calendar where his CCBT seems to end on July 31. Then, Acceptance day is 8/13. Does that include USMAPS and do USMAPS families attend Acceptance Day? Just trying to get vacation days in for the summer ;) It would be also good to know if there's not a day for USMAPS families to visit until (family weekend) in October. Also, just curious about what they do between July 31 and acceptance day.

Congratulations to your son! I am not sure of the specific dates for USMAPS '23, however our CCBT ended August 1st so July 31st seems accurate. I believe August 13 is Acceptance Day for USMA, not USMAPS. USMAPS typically does NOT have a Acceptance Day and the majority of us only got to see our families again on Family Weekend in October.
Between CCBT and the Academic Year is reorganization week where every gets prepared for classes, issued laptops, etc.

My DS will be attending MAPS as well. If you are interested, I can send you his cell #

Thanks for all of the info on the forum sites - great resource. My DD will be reporting for USMAPS next week and we are ready to go. We listened to the Teams meeting from last week and caught the mention of $600 - to be called out in paperwork. None of our reporting info says anything about $600, where to send, etc.

Does anyone have info on it or so we just show up with a check/money order?

Thanks

This is the address they gave us, but I think in the meeting they said that you can hand carry it

Could you explain the process for being accepted for MAPS? For example, would a candidate find out they are "not appointed" for WP, their application be closed and THEN they receive notification of prep? Or would the application stay open until notification of Prep recommendation? Also, is it safe to assume you must be medically qualified or fully qualified? I have been in regular contact with my Field Force Officer, he is not as familiar with this side of the process and working to gather some additional details.
