CVW Email Experience

Hey, I just want to share my recent experience with the CVW email.

So I got an invitation to visit USNA in September. However, since it was the beginning of the school year, I didn’t choose to visit because of the activities and school events that I couldn’t miss.

Today, I looked at the email again and tried to click on the sign up link (out of curiosity) and saw that the online registration form is still up with updated dates (Oct. and Nov.)

What do you guys think about this? I somewhat find it both weird and interesting

Nothing weird about it at all.
The invitation to a CVW still applies to you, as long as you sign up before the particular 3-day time frame is full.
The EMail probably reminds you that "Spots are limited! If you are interested in participating in this experience, please fill out our request form" (which is followed by a link to the form).

If you can manage to get there (and take a couple of days off from school) it would be time well spent, but make SURE of that before you fill out the request form, and make sure you are able to get there and back (Driving or airline flights) according to the time frame they set forth.

My DS went and had a great time, even though he had to miss a varsity sports event on the Saturday he returned.
Taking Thursday and Friday off is something to weigh into your decision about going, but most High Schools will probably treat it as an excused absence, since it's technically a "College Visit". If you do it, take your homework with you, as it will give you something worthwhile to do, while your Mid is studying.

My son received the same invitation in late August/early September and could not attend due to football season. I logged in at that time and declined with comments on why he couldn't attend and he would like another invitation for a later date. He then received a new invitation email for different dates, then end of October and beginning of November which he applied for the early November date and was confirmed for that CVW. So I am assuming that the link for both emails may be the same. Not sure what to think. I would say that if you still want to attend a CVW you should probably contact your regional admissions counselor to see if you can still apply for the dates you see now. Just my 2 cents.

1. Why are you logging into your son's portal and why especially are you completing items addressed to him?
2. I certainly wouldn't be posting (especially with your username) that the parent is doing the work and not the candidate.

A clear sign to USNA that the candidate isn't that motivated is when the parent is doing the work. If you are doing it because they 'don't have time', then they aren't ready for life at USNA

That was a typo on my part. My son has been taking care of his own items from his application, to scheduling his DoDMERB appointment, to his MOC applications and scheduling his interviews, to scheduling his CVW, etc...... I have been there for him to answer questions he has along the way but this has been his journey all the way. Please excuse the typo.
