Well round 2 this time with my daughter.

First, thank you to all from when my son with through the process. He is no a 2nd class midshipman at the U of South Carolina.

As for my daughter & CVW.

She applied to STEM twice, got in the 2nd time. Attended the Academy rowing camp this summer and is now invited to CVW, she will attend Oct 13 & 14.

Welcome back to the roller-coaster. Congrats to your son. Hope he is thriving at USC (the east coast version) and is loving ROTC.

Best wishes to your DD.

Ditto the welcome back big guy! Long time no hear from. Echo the congrats to DS and now best wishes for DD in her pursuit!

Just came back from my daughters CVW, great opportunity! Lots of information for the parents, it was a great visit and gives a great look at what Academy life is all about. So glad she was able to attend and we were too!

Good stuff. My older son went through NASS as well as the Navy crew camp. My DD will be applying for NASS; however, with attending CVW she might not be selected to NASS. She will have my sons mentor who is a current iron captain & alumni. Plan "A" in the works, plan "B" NROTC will follow along side and plan "C" will come later. She took her SAT & ACT in her sophomore year and will them a couple more times before this is all over.

If there was one thing she as well as we learned just just don't know if you will get in or not. It's a long road where you try to control your hopes and dreams because you just never know.

If I recall correctly, whether one goes on a CVW or not has no negative influence on getting accepted into NASS; I attended both and enjoyed the different perspectives that each had to offer.

Well round 2 this time with my daughter.

Hi Coach. Welcome back. Glad to hear that your daughter is pursuing her appointment. My best to you, her and Dan.

I'll drop you an email. We should get caught up.

Actually, drop me a line. I don't seem to have your current email.

Best - Sam

When we were driving DD to her CVW, she agreed to hold off making a decision until a few days had passed so it wouldn't be based solely on her experience that weekend. On the way home on Sunday, we'd gotten just over the Bay Bridge when she said "I know I said I'd give it a few days, but I've decided that I'm attending Navy." She never looked back. Go luck to your DD and congrats to your DS.

Thank you for the feedback everybody...

Sam,
Dan is knocking it out of the park. He put in for subs this summer and was sent to HI. Poor kid got stuck there for two weeks...yea, we did not feel one bit sorry for him! He has changed his mind from flying to subs. He will put in for subs again for his 1st class cruz.

Oldest DD saw the Academy for the first time when her boat docked at Annapolis on the way back to Rhode Island High School (They had an in for dock space) and took a tour of the Yard. She went to CVW a year later and told us on the way home that "This is where I will go". Didn't apply anywhere else. Now Captain USMC. Good luck to all. Fair Winds and Following Seas.
