This might be a little early, but is anyone else going to 21-23 Jan. CVW? What kind of clothing am I going to need (I'm from San Diego so I have no idea what winter is)?

Certainly not your Vans and board shorts...

Lots of posts on here about appropriate day clothes for a CVW, just search.

As far as outerwear, if you have a water-resistant parka-type hooded jacket with lining, gloves and shoes with some decent traction, that should cover you. January, we can either have snow on the ground or the dreaded black ice on the bricks or the infamous "wintry mix" of frozen rain. Or clear and cold! Watch weather.com for zip 21401 as you get ready to pack.

I had years of San Diego and Pearl Harbor duty before reporting to USNA for duty. That first fall and winter, thought I would freeze my tuckus off and couldn't get enough layers on to feel warm. Now, after having lived here for 14 years, I'm adapted. The cold here is the damp, bitter kind that comes in off the Chesapeake Bay and Severn River, not the fun dry cold of Tahoe in the winter.

sdhit,

My daughter is going to the 21-23 Jan CVW. We're from Orange County, CA. Feel free to PM me and I will put you in touch with her.
