Sigh.... son just discovered this morning burried in his spam folder an invitation for a CVW. It was sent on February 2.

He is a junior and applied to summer seminar. The invite states it has no bearing on his summer seminar placement decision.

I'm just curious were these offered to all summer seminar applicants? Can anyone offer any insight?

Son can not attend either of the weekends due to high school varsity track meets. Should he email someone and politely decline this opportunity?

Yes, DS will be more diligent about checking him spam from now on.

Thanks in advance!

It's probably full now anyway, those fill in a matter of days. My DD was sent an invite and we waited a couple days before responding to look at flights, etc and when she responded back a few days later it was full.

Email back that he would like another invitation at a later date. They sent my DD another invite a couple months later.

Yes he should politely decline, let them know it is because of varsity sports commitments (can't hurt they like sports) and open the door to a future invitation. CVWs are not offered to everyone. Some would say it is a good sign, others would say it has no bearing. The SA are constantly trying to reduce the cadets that leave the academy prior to graduation. They are investing a lot of money into each student. One way to do this is to make sure prospective students know what they are getting into before they accept an appointment. Summer seminar and CVWs are some of the tools they use.

Thank you! I clicked on the link in email and both dates are full. I just wasn't sure if he needed to express that he is interesred but politely decline the invite. Thank you for your response!

The next time he gets an email, tell him to immediately click the link and accept. You can figure out your calendar/logistics later. :)

Have him call admissions to polity decline due to his sports schedule and that he would like to be considered for one at a later date. This should keep him in the running for one later on.
