We now have a new Marine Corps 2LT to go along with our Navy Ensign. It wasn't anything like we expected when DS started this journey, but the ceremony was legal and valid and we as parents are as proud as we could be. He sure looked sharp in that Marine Corps dress uniform. I'll be honest and say that there was some disappointment among all of us that we couldn't have the normal graduation and commissioning ceremony but we tried to make it as special as we could and avoid the temptation to feel sorry for ourselves.

I found this site when DD was a Plebe at USNA and I am very grateful for the many knowledgeable people who have helped me over the years. I am amazed at the kind, patient and helpful responses we see every day, especially from the long time, experienced members.

Now that both of my kids are graduated and commissioned I probably won't be spending much time on this site. Both DD and DS owned their application process and journey to commissioning, so my knowledge of both USNA and NROTC is not thorough and what I do know is secondhand information at best. There has always been someone more knowledgeable than me who could answer questions more accurately and completely than I could, so I think I'll leave it to these experts to respond to USNA and ROTC questions here. I may stop by to smell the bacon every now and then...

Congratulations to all graduates and recently commissioned officers and best wishes to all those just starting or in the midst of their journey. Goodbye for now.

Great accomplishment for your DD and DS. Congrats to you for raising 2 kids that are willing to serve this great country!

@Dadof2

You’re just on another rollercoaster now. You probably know more than you think you do! Congratulations on your joint Navy-Marine Corps family team!

Congrats to your recent grad and whole family. As different as things are, I still SMILE when I think about this graduation season (ours is different for our last High Schooler, a P2B....and we know what will be missed for iday as a mom of a 2nd Mid). Their accomplishments are not gone. Very different for certain.

Again, congrats!!!
