I know there is a very very slim chance of this ever happening but what does it mean if April 15 passes and you haven’t received either a TWE or BFE?

Then it means you’re still in the game. Several threads lately on this topic, but worth reiterating: Until and unless you get TWE, it’s still possible to get BFE, no matter what the date is. (But regardless, tax returns are due April 15.)

Very few don’t know by April 15th. Usually admissions will talk with a candidate about why. There will be some on the Wait List but they will be informed of that and to continue with a Plan B. Very few of any usually make it off the Wait List, so it’s important to continue planning an alternate plan.

A lot can happen in March, and there are 27 days of it left. :)
I realize that but I also know that there is a very good chance that I will get a TWE this late in the game. I just don't like the waiting because I've already been accepted to my plan B.

Well most colleges don’t need the acceptance until May 1 so you should have all the facts before then to decide what. Worst case scenario you accept plan b and get a last minute appointment and then you tell plan b you changed your mind. I think it happens

It is healthy to assume that you will end up at your Plan B - and if something else happens - that's when you have a decision to make.
Every year, there are those who soul-search and decide against a Service Academy and go with plan B because that's what they really want.

That's not giving up. That's getting there a different way.

I'm curious to know when does one typically receive the TWE? The reason why I ask is that my DS was fortunate enough to receive multiple nominations from our congressional leaders in our State but they were all for the same Academy....not USNA. Despite having a an exceptional application, without the nomination, I would have expected him to have received the TWE by now. Is this common or will the TWE's be sent in a bulk distribution once remaining appointments are made. Appreciate any insights.

Assuming he applied for the VP nom, he could be in play for that. Or, slim chance, a Superintendent’s nom. No news is just ... no news at this point.

The VP nom, though there are only a few, is often used for these situations. Excellent candidate, no nom.

It ain't over 'til it's over. DH claims to have been the very last one added to his class ('87), and that word came barely a month before I-Day. He was headed to Northwestern on ROTC scholarship...already had a roommate assigned and everything. His last minute nom ended up coming from a Congressman from Nebraska, I think (he is from MA). Guess that's how they scooped a few off the waitlist that year...with spare nominations from landlocked states that were short of candidates. Anyway, it was goodbye Northwestern and Anchors Aweigh when that letter arrived. He jokingly says that he graduated in the part of the class that makes the upper half possible (as an Aero major), but also posits the question: What do they call the guy (or gal) who graduated ranked at the bottom of the class? Ensign. Chew on that for a minute. LOL.

Best of luck to all of those waiting anxiously.
