Hello, I received a 3 year AROTC Scholarship during my senior year last year and accepted it then. Now, after the Fall Semester, I feel that it's not the right choice in regards to my future plans and goals. I haven't signed any contracts or anything, so do I email Cadet Command and tell them, or do I talk to the people at my university?

I would begin with your AROTC cadre and let your ROO know that you are going to decline the scholarship. Then send an email or letter (registered) to Cadet Command and copy your PMS and ROO.

I assume that you are still interested in med school and have seen that there are better paths to medical school than through a traditional commission?

I'm surprised that you remembered my med school path :) Yes med school is still my #1 choice and that influenced my decision quiet a bit because I guess I want to focus better on education and not really ready for the scenario where I have to put med school aside and come back later. I'll take your advice and talk to cadre first, thanks.

Yea I would do the same, tell your cadre about it at your school and from there they will let you know what to do. Make sure you think twice about the decision, make sure that’s what you want.

I believe you are choosing the right path.

Once you are accepted to med school, you can still apply for Army HPSP (and the AF and Navy equivalents). If accepted, the Army will pay for med school PLUS pay you a stipend and then you receive a commission as an Army Surgeon upon graduation.
