My son accepted an AROTC scholarship. A couple of months later he accepted an appointment to USMA. He notified the AROTC department of the school he would have been attending that he had accepted the appointment. Is that enough? Should he also notify Cadet Command that he will not be using the AROTC scholarship?

My son received a NROTC Scholarship for Villanova University. He received an appointment to USNA. He notified Villanova and NROTC that he was declining the scholarship to attend the Naval Academy.

He'll need to send an e-mail to his contact at Cadet Command. Same thing happened to me.

Congratulations on your achievement. If your son's situation is anything like my son's, the college battalion CO will email, call, write letters, etc., etc. until CO is convinced of the decision. Bn CO has limited slots, and wants to offer them to definite attendees.
