Hello,

Is the scholarship listed above available for 3 years or 4 years? On some websites, it's listed as a 4 yr scholarship but on some, the benefits don't start until sophomore year.

Thanks!

From the US Army National Guard website:

https://www.nationalguard.com/tools/guard-scholarships

"DEDICATED ARMY NATIONAL GUARD (DEDNG) SCHOLARSHIP
Recipients receive full tuition, plus up to $1,200 for books, and are paid a monthly allowance in the following amounts: $350 during sophomore year, $450 during junior year and $500 during senior year. Grad students can also apply if they have only two years remaining until they graduate.

In addition to a monthly allowance, you can also receive the drill pay of a sergeant, approximately $225 per month, when you participate in the SMP."

There doesn't seem to any limit to the number of years the scholarship covers, but the stipend is only paid for college sophomores, juniors & seniors.

The Guaranteed Reserve Force Duty (GRFD) Scholarship is similar but appears to only for college juniors & seniors.

The minuteman scholarship is the only GRFD flavored scholarship that is 4 years. Normal GRFD scholarships are only 3 year scholarships. The minuteman scholarship is relatively new, so the information on many websites may not be accurate. Best source for accurate information is going to be the ROO at the ROTC program your looking to attend or your National Guard unit. Remember also that these scholarships basically make it so you won’t have the option to chose to serve on active duty when you graduate, so make sure you have absolutely no interest in serving on active duty.
