Defense Official: Obama Calling for Defense Budget Cuts

What does this mean? I don't remember that term from my day.

I suspect I know, but I'll ask anyway.

Homesteading is remaining at a duty station longer then 3 years..
historically the USAF done this for many years.... (my hubby came to McChord in 1990.... he had orders in 1995 but they were cancelled.. he retired in 1999 from McChord (he had a few short (3-6months) overseas trips while here)

Unlike the Corps with was moving every 3 yrs...

We haven't seen anything yet. This is going to be a DISASTER. :frown:

I wouldn't be so concerned about Obama by himself. But you add in Pelosi, Reed, and the democratic congress; and it's a recipe for disaster. People want to talk about how great the economy was when Clinton left office, but what they conveniently overlook is that his first 2 years with a democratic congress was a disaster. Hence the out pour of republicans elected to congress in 1994 and keeping clinton in check for the next 6 years. Presidents are leaders, they don't make the laws or spend the money. The congress does. That's why we are in the financial mess we are in now and will continue with for the near future.

While I agree with you, I'm afraid I don't have much faith in the opposition anymore. While many of their number were rightfully tossed out on their ears, the remainder (especially in the Senate) don't seem to have gotten the message. To think that many of them AGREED with this bailout madness (and even suspended their campaign in an example of supremely stupid pandering to "deal" with it) makes me sick!

So we have one party that has ALWAYS spent like drunken sailors, and another that suddenly decided to abandon one of its basic blanks and began to spend like drunken Democrats. Meanwhile we, our children, our grandchildren, and our GREAT grandchildren will be left holding the bag. But what do the politicians care? They have their power and their perks, so screw the peasants.

Hence my pessimism for the future, no matter who is in charge. :frown:

I sincerely hope we have another 1994 in 2010. What I hope we DON'T have afterwards is another 1995 in 2011, where the Republicans once again cave to the nitwits in Washington in order to "get along". What good is being in the majority if you just do most of what the minority wants anyway?

That's what I figured.

Back in my day a "long" tour was 3 years in one place unless you were in a place like Norfolk, in which case you could do two ships and a shore duty from the same apartment.

I often wondered why there was so much moving around, and how much of it was actually necessary....
