Deferred Folk - how are you doing out there?

The waiting game

Has everyone recovered from December's stress - overload?

Well, son's first semester college grades are finally on their way to New London, so we are officially back in the waiting game! Have no idea how quickly he'll go to review, but here's hoping it goes fast this time around. Good luck to everyone.

LOL... just a little.....

But the civilian colleges all have started to chime in.. that is putting her in better spirits!

She has her MOC interview tomorrow for USMMA

Hello,

When I was deffered in December It was a little dis-heartening, but after reading some of the advice given on the boards I felt a little better. For me at least there is wasnt much time to feel sorry for myself. Im glad that there are others in the same boat as I am. In a way I almost felt mad at the academy haha, I guess it was a wake up call.

We're back to counting down to when we might hear something...

January is pretty busy for our family and come February things will lighten up just a wee bit... so I'll probably go into full stalking mode round the mail box sometime in that month.

Darling son has a rock solid conviction that God is sovereign and while the Academy is by far his first choice, he has an excellent Plan B lined up and for that I am grateful.

At this point, I guess he has done all he can do... and just has to wait and see.

I'm much less patient than he is. But, I am going to have to change my ways... I have 5 more kiddos to go before my nest is empty. I'm going to have to learn to be more like he is and RELAX and remember God is in control.

Now he is encouraging two of his best friends who are juniors to apply for AIM. He hopes to populate the ranks with good men that he knows and trusts, I guess! Ha Ha One of his buddies enlisted last year and is stationed in Texas ---- and he LOVES the Coast Guard. It is all good.

Blessings.

Interview completed for USMMA nomination... She came out smiling and feeling very confident... They told her they would let her know by friday.... SO....... no stress here (I am a fibber)... LOL

CGA is still first choice.......

Patience...be careful what you ask for!

MW-I too am impatient. My boy is handling it all in stride, and has confidence that he did everything he could to show the admissions board that he really and truly wants to be at the CGA.

Funny story...a friend of mine was rather impatient. She prayed and prayed for patience. Her prayers were answered, but not quite in the manner that she had hoped. Baby number 3 (unplanned) came along. This little darling was fussy, difficult, demanding, etc, etc. In short, the perfect project to grow her patience. I don't pray for patience anymore!!! I may think about it, but it changed they way I pray

So, we wait. I am sure there are plenty of things I could be doing to while away the days, but this darn computer has such a strong pull that I find it hard not to check all my boards and email quite a few times a day. With our glorious Cali weather these days I should go out and take a lonnnnng walk to get the endorphins flowin'....nah, email to read.

Good luck everyone. Feb is right around the corner. Maybe some will be lucky and hear early.

File Complete!

Well the good news is that son's college transcripts have been received. The less than stellar news is that we can expect a wait of 1-2 months

Oh well. I guess we'll (his dad and I) hunker down and be patient. Son is too busy with crew, new semester approaching and enjoying our unseasonably warm Cali winter. I think he's been to the beach more this winter than all of last summer! Hope those of you in the colddddd states are hanging in there! If son does land in New London he will have some serious adjusting to do! :shake:

It was 26 here in South Carolina at 9:30 this morning as we passed by the bank

time/temp display. The lovely fountain downtown was frozen and we shivered as we drove by.

Son said, "It is sure cold."

I said, "Ah, t'would be a warm day in New London!"

With wind: somewhere in the negatives

I just want to add that in the ten years that I have lived in NJ...this has never happened. My opinion, if its going to be this cold, could I at least get some snow?

Not to brag, but its pretty nice in california. Where I am at it is 68. And its not humid. Thats something I going to have to get used to on the east coast, humidity.
