Deferred my record email?

Hello, email from USNA admissions received that my “record has been deferred until they receive first semester grades.”

Everything else is in and complete in the USNA portal.


I infer that there’s just nothing more to be done until first semester grades have been submitted. Does this imply competitiveness or not? The use of “deferred” normally means rejected, but I’m seeking any insights If there is another meaning?

It just means that your file will be pushed back for consideration once your first semester grades have been submitted. Are you a college student? This is pretty typical for students applying from college.

This request is not a rejection. Work hard on your HS fall semester classes. Have your school send the updated transcript with the fall grades on it.

Continue working on all of your applications. Don’t put all of your eggs in one basket.

There is likely something in (or not in) your record that makes USNA want to see how you do this semester.

So “deferred” doesn’t mean “no thank you.” It means “show me something else.”
