Well, just found out my EA app has been deferred...

Just wondering, does anybody actually get flat out rejected during EA, or is everyone who isn't appointed "deferred"?

Really not feeling too confident to be honest...I mean, if I were the real deal, then I'd have gotten an appointment...right?

Thanks again to all who are here to help!

Hang in there -- deferred is not rejected, so unless you are rejected you still have a chance. Based on your earlier posts, your Math/English ACT scores are on the low side (vs the average for the class of 2017). Not necessarily a deal breaker, but are you taking the SAT in January?

I was also deferred from my appointment. Also it said that I am supposed to find out in Early April, but is it possible to know before then?

Anything's possible, but most likely the bulk of appointments are going out in early April.

I still have not heard anything. Applied EA in early October and received a nomination over a month ago. I have strong test scores and GPA and did well on the CFA. The nomination has still not been entered in the portal. Just wondering if any of those who have been deferred would be willing to share stats.

Folks..."EA eligible" doesn't mean you are getting an appointment any more than deferred means you're not getting an appointment.

They are simply words and terms.

VAST majority of appointments will come late March or early April.

No worries, it just means you're not superman or anything.

From what I've read about it, EA is designed so that the Academy can snag the most competitive applicants quickly, before those applicants are taken by other colleges or service academies.

The best way to look at it is from a common metaphor: choosing up teams for dodge ball. Team captains always go for the star athletes first, and they're snatched up quickly (EA accepted). Once that's out of the way, they turn their attention to the more average players and weigh their strengths and weaknesses against other average players (deferred).

No need to worry, just keep on keeping on, and keep in touch. Best thing to do now is to continue working on improving yourself; taking more SATs/ACTs, getting involved in clubs and sports, volunteering, and above all else, REPORTING this activity to the USAFA Counselors to show your dedication to getting in.

Good luck, and don't worry!
