Denial

My DS received a nomination for the academy and now has received an academic denial. Does anyone know if it is the end of the road for a referral to the prep school as well? We left a message for admissions, waiting to hear back.

I know of occasional instances where a prep offer has come after a denial, though it is rare. I would definitely reach out to admissions and let them know that your DS would be interested in a prep offer. If his file is otherwise strong except academics, there is always room for improvement. Or if not given a prep offer, he can do self prep or do a year at civilian college and reapply. Good luck.

I’m so sorry to here that. I wish your DS the best of luck in the future. What is an academic denial? Did his test scores meet the minimums?

Thank you everyone. My DS saw it on the portal and received an email. His test scores did not meet the minimums. He was set to take the ACT on the Feb test date to improve them, but got the flu.

Oddly enough, flying jets was what I thought I wanted to do in high school. Ended up a KP, went to sea and changed my mind. . . .
