Denied Early Action. Now what?

Was he deferred/wait listed? If so he will be reviewed again during regular action . If it's a "no", I think that's, unfortunately, the end of the road. Best of luck to your son.

+1
Our DS was "deferred" at EA for USAFA. That is not a "no" but a "we'll review your application again for regular decision"... so what Shellz says is spot on.

So if deferred, he's still in the running. If a definite no you won't get appointment, then plan B.

You can always have him call admissions after the Holidays to inquire. They can shed light on the situation.

Just for clarification...Early action applicants will receive one of three notifications: appointment (either full or conditional), denial, or wait list. The Regular action applicants are reviewed as a seperate group. They too will receive an appointment, denial, or wait list decision. All those put on the wait list from both groups will then be reviewed by a Wait List Review Board which historically has met in May.

The EA group is not "deferred" to regular action. Objee has posted about this on other threads.

Well bummer. Yes, he was flat out rejected. I think in the end his lower GPA (3.3 UW/3.5 W) got the best of him. However, I thought a 29 ACT, AIM graduate, wrestling team captain, community service, and all the other goodies that go into the process would offset his lower GPA. We're down but not out by any means. We're waiting on a decision from the Merchant Marine Academy where he is being recruited as an athlete and already has a congressional nomination.

Thank you all for the information!

When we went to Cadet for a Day, I realized what an elite group of young people they ALL were. I hope you get better news from MMA.
