I just got a letter that I was not awarded an NROTC scholarship but will still be in the program at college. My question was about applying again. Do I apply just like I did the first time or is there a different application for those in college in the NROTC program? Thanks

Not 100% sure but I believe it is indeed a different application. Did you receive an email or a physical letter/TWE?

You can reapply for the national scholarship. You can start the app when it opens but you are now required to submit your first semester grades. You will also apply for a side load scholarship. My DS did not get a NROTC as a senior in high school, but he reapplied for the 4 year and found out last week, he was awarded one. Just take challenging classes and get the highest GPA you can. DS earned a 3.9 and I think that really helped him. Good luck!!

So did your DS finish and submit her application in the summer? And how do the first semester grades go since those come out in December. Did you have to wait to submit the application in December? Thanks

Do you mind me asking which option you chose? (Navy, Nurse or Marine). I'm sure you'll get the scholarship eventually. Best of luck to you!

The best advice is to complete the application over the summer, but do not submit it until after you join the unit in the fall. This will give you the opportunity to review the application with your freshman advisor and they may be able to help you tweek it prior to submission.

If NROTC needs or wants to see your first semester grades, they will delay their decision into January. Just remember to reapply as a college freshman the application needs to be submitted PRIOR to the completion of the fall semester.

Great help! Thank you

Does anyone know the NROTC board dates? My application has been complete since January but for some reason just showed as ready to be reviewed two weeks ago. Am I okay to be reviewed in the March and April boards?

I know the board met this week. My DS's package was in the que for this week.

You may not hear until mid to late April. YMMV. Be sure to have a solid plan B in place so you're ready to execute it, in case of need.

How did you find out your DS's son was in the que?

Unfortunately that would be a Plan C for me. The NROTC is my Plan B Incase USNA falls through. I do have other scholarship things in the works though, thanks for the advice

I don’t know about rdc’s DS but my online portal says that the NSTC Selection/Placement Office has received my application and that I’m not missing any items so I just assumed that meant my application was in the queue.

My DS is a college programmer and his CO informed him his package was "in line" to be reviewed at this week's board.

I’m a senior in high school applying along with college applications. Is there a way for me to find out if I’m “in line” as well?

Best of luck: a few people in my unit who were college programmers just picked up a scholarship! Go Navy!!
