Dod 6130.03 says that the following does not meet the standard:

Eight or more grossly (visually) cavitated and/or carious teeth (521.0x). Applicants who are edentulous must have functioning dentures. Lack of a serviceable prosthesis that prevents adequate biting and chewing of a normal diet. Individuals undergoing endodontic care are acceptable for entry into the Delayed Entry Program (DEP) only if a civilian or military dentist or endodontist provides documentation that active endodontic treatment shall be completed prior to being sworn to active duty.

Has anyone ever heard of a DQ due to cavities? Are waivers available for this?

I think it is referring to untreated or unfilled cavities. I have never heard of someone being disqualified for having too many fillings, but I'm not a member of DODMERB

Yes, the wording is very ambiguous. Does anyone else have experience with or know anything more about this?

I don't think its ambiguous.

"Eight or more grossly (visually) cavitated and/or carious teeth."

If you have fillings, then they are no longer visually cavitated/carious - right?

The tooth it's self would still be cavitated, but is just covered by resin, right? I don't know if I'm being too literal with the wording, which is why I am wondering why it is written that way. It would make more sense that it is referring to untreated cavities though.

Unless you have a mouthful of untreated cavities, I wouldn't worry about this. None of my kids even had a separate dental exam for DODMERB.

I think you are worrying waaaaayyyy too much.

The 1st time I recall DS having a true dental exam was for his FC1 physical for UPT, and their concern was more about wisdom teeth than cavities if I recall.
