Hello, I currently have my LOA to USMA and am waiting on medical results.

However, the only thing that is bugging me is the fact that I said yes to having braces because although I do not have braces anymore, I feel as though my answer could be misconstrued as me currently having braces. Furthermore, the medical staff who examined me never mentioned anything about braces, so I am just worried that I could be disqualified for a misunderstanding.

Additionally, I never actually officially “finished” my braces treatment, as my teeth were perfect and my family would take a hard hit from the financial burden of further, pointless treatment. I am not worried about my teeth, they are just fine, but I am worried that if I am disqualified I would be unable to send a waiver because the people who did my braces never actually finished my treatment and thus would not be willing to write a good note for me.

The pictures below display all conditions I said “yes” to. If anyone has much knowledge regarding dodmerb, your advice/help would be greatly appreciated. I am perfectly healthy in every way, I don’t want to be brought down by very minor things.

My DS had a disqualification due to his braces not scheduled to come off in time before indoc. That was alleviated by an update from the orthodontist and we made choice to get them removed early. But he did have to send copy of X-ray of teeth to show braces gone when they were removed.

I had braces during middle/highschool, checked it off on my DoDMET survey, and no one ever mentioned it to me throughout the process of getting qualified. From my experience, it never seemed like a big deal; I am sure a good majority of kids who complete the survey have had braces. I'm not an expert but I would say that, from my experience, it is nothing to worry over!

UPDATE: Everything turned out fine! I ended up receiving an email from DODMERB asking for medical records of an infection I had in the past, but they never asked about my braces. After sending the requested medical records, I was cleared and am extremely happy to say that I have recieved an appointment to the class of 2027. To all incoming applicants, don’t worry too much about medical like I did… haha.
