Did I screw up?

As everyone probably knows, the PCQ opened today. I went on, entered my SSN and DOB, and went to the application. I figured it would take me to some page where my PCQ was shown as complete since I applied for SS. But then it took me to the first page of the PCQ but with all the information filled in (I guess from summer seminar app) and by this time I realized I probably shouldn't have tried to log on in the first place so I clicked back. Then it took me to a completed version of the PCQ that looked a lot like the summer seminar application status page except it didn't have the resume and a couple other things were missing (it said I didn't enter my class rank even though I entered it on the SS app). So should I update the PCQ page with all the info it's missing or just ignore it since I shouldn't have gone on the page to begin with (I think?) since I already applied and was accepted for SS???? Sorry for the long, confusing post.

I'm pretty sure that if you applied and were accepted for Summer Seminar, that serves as you PCQ, so you shouldn't have to do anything else. After SS, you will be given access to the candidate package/application

My recollection from last year is that your SS application kind of became the PCQ but they no longer take your word on things like your class rank, and recalculate your GPA, etc. So those will be things that will be requested as falconchic said, once the actual application opens sometime late summer. I believe though that unlike Navy where it automatically generates a candidate file/number, for AF you do have to do what you did and submit your PCQ. If you don't, then a file won't be started for you, but since you did, it just imported much of your SS info into it for now. So I don't think you did anything wrong. You can still go to the SS page as well - I just did it for my younger son - and see your status there.

I did the EXACT same thing last year. You didn't do anything wrong, that page is now your application page. You can update what you like, and the actual application materials will appear lower on that page later in the summer. Relax, enjoy summer seminar, and have fun filling out the actual application when the academy makes the materials available. :thumb:

So relative to the PCQ, for those who have been accepted to Summer Seminar, is it correct to assume that no action is required at this time or should it be updated from time to time (i.e. SATs, activities, etc.) prior to the application coming out?

So I did the same thing tallbutshort did, except I tried to update my class rank and it wouldn't let me, because it said those things had to go through to my USAF counselor. I updated the other things, like there was a list of questions that you had to answer yes/no and it was very similar to the one on the summer seminar app, except the difference is that the one for PCQ had some more questions.

Then I read on the Pre-candidate guide that I downloaded from the site, "Do not submit another PCQ if you've already completed a USAF Academy PCQ for the class entering in June, or if you've already completed a USAF Academy Summer Seminar application for the 2010 program."

If I updated the PCQ that had my summer seminar info in it, does that count as submitting another PCQ? I wouldn't think so, because, well it already had my info on it, but I really don't know, oh now I think I did something wrong here then by updating it.

Also, under Applicant, it said my application was considered competitive. Does that mean my summer seminar application was deemed competitive and now I am going to be considered a candidate if I receive a nomination?

Nope, you didn't submit a PCQ because you never hit "submit" if you were just updating the page. Like I said, I did exactly the same thing as tallbutshort last year (including the freak out ), then went back and updated the page with no problem.

I'm pretty sure that means your ACT/SAT scores, GPA, and activities are in the range the academy is looking for (above the mins), so you will be considered for an appointment if you get a nomination :thumb:.

Hahahaha, I freaked out even after reading this thread and seeing people tell tallbutshort not to freak out. I just can't help it!

Thanks a lot falcolngirl!!!

So if I was accepted to the Summer Seminar I do not have to fill out the PCQ, correct? That is what I am reading at academyadmissions.com. I believe this is correct but I do not want to wait to start the application until July if this is not the case.

If we applied for Summer Seminar then is that all we are required to do until USAFA makes the application materials available online?
