Difficult Swab Summer

Good news :)

I had a meet with the Assistant Commandant of Cadets today. If I keep a clean bill of health for the next six months and get cleared by DODMERB on the health issue that led to my disenrollment, I will be automatically deferred to next year's class and won't have to reapply!:smile: Awesome! I went from no news to awesome news in less than 24 hours!!

Stitch626,

I find it hilarious that out of the 18 people who left this summer, 10 were from my company...my cadre are probably psyched  Just kidding...kind of

Track & Field,
I'm very happy for you! I'm glad you have the chance for a deferral. At this point, that is probably the best outcome you could hope for. Good luck & good health to you! Next summer, you will be a hot commodity since you will be the Swab who has done most of it before!

WOO HOO I have an Extra class of 2014 hat... :) Awesome news!

Trackandfield08,

Great news! I hope everything works out for you.

awesome news. ps did you greet me outside the bookstore yesterday? two fourth class with seabags on in ODUs walked by me and one I didn't recognize greeted me by name.

Shoulderboard Ceremony

I wonder how many Swabs there were at the Shoulderboard Ceremony. Congrats, trackandfield, our daughter may be one among those who deferred this year only to re-enroll for the Class of 2014.

eyes out of the boat:mad:.....lol

I always felt bad walking to the gym in Cape May when a group of recruits were around. It was Lose Lose for them. Either they took their eyes "out of the boat" and greeted/saluted and get yelled at for looking around OR they didn't see me, and got yelled at for not greeting/saluting....

I ended up stopping at a pretty good distance and walked behind them or waited for them to pass.

zachogden,

I think so, I know I greeted a lot of people yesterday. I was the one carrying the gym bag and I was in modified ODUs as I had to give all my uniforms back and I was only allowed to keep that much to wear while I was out processing.

BR2011,

Were you the female upperclass who asked why we weren't wearing blouses? If so, sorry about taking my eyes out of the boat  The situation is kind of hard to explain when you're not looking at someone. lol, sorry about that by the way.

Anyway, it's a weird feeling being home...my parents are being really supportive but it still doesn't feel right. Thank you to everyone who has been supportive and helpful. I really appreciate it.

no i am a male. i think i was your division officer for about 2 days during the summer though

and i was just kidding about the eyes out of the boat

lol...I figured you were, I just got yelled at by someone yesterday for taking my eyes out of the boat is all.

Trackandfield08,

Congratulations and thank you for the info that you posted!

While the Chase Hall "rumor mill" can be surprisingly accurate on occasion, I thought I'd inject some truth into this discussion...

Swab Summer departures by company:

Alfa - 2
Bravo - 4
Charlie - 2
Delta - 4
Echo - 3
Foxtrot - 0
Golf - 4
Hotel - 2

Eight of these departures were medical discharges and the rest were voluntary separations. We also had two departures on R-Day, but they are not included in the numbers above because they did not officially swear-in to the class. With the exception of swine flu causing a number of swabs (and cadre) to miss a few days of training, I think it was actually a remarkably normal Swab Summer.

Miscalculation on my part I guess...I could have sworn that we counted 38 on R-Day...of course, counting off was not exactly Bravo's strong point in the beginning  Not to mention, R-Day seems like a lifetime ago. Not counting the one who did drop the first day...and trying to remember those of us who were sent home/voluntarily separated...4 is about right.

LITS,

You would have been very proud of Bravo this summer...we rocked ICS. Two Back to Back to Back clean sweeps and I believe we only lost maybe four ICS the whole summer. We also broke a record from 2003 in terms of the ropes course...it was awesome! I was very proud to be a part of the Bravo Bulls!

Things have certainly changed....from three Swab Summer companies to eight, the length and make up of the ropes course, etc....but it's good to see that Bravo is still rocking.

you may have lost some swabs to other companies during Eagle. most started out with around 37 or 38

and foxtrot-0, plus honor company.......
