Hello,
I was wondering if I will be able to bring my ipad to take notes for my classes on i day, to be used for classes after indoc?

You should use the documentation for your specific class but according to the Logging In booklet for the class of 2025, you can't have an iPad during Indoc. You can find the 2025 Logging In book at LOGGING IN CLASSOF 2025 REPORTING INSTRUCTIONS. Specifically see page 11 for a discussion of permitted electronic devices. By the way, take note as well of the statement "Cell phones may be brought, but will not be authorized to remain on person during Indoctrination and will be collected and stowed for safekeeping.".

While I haven't used a Microsoft Surface Pro a ton, my younger kid has one for school. I think from a note-taking standpoint it's not going to be very different from an iPad... the native OneNote app is actually quite good. There is an iPad version you could download to familiarize yourself with.

And, *if I heard correctly* from the Sunday parent calls, Plebes can have a personal computer but not until it is earned/they are told they can have one. I don’t think you can show up with it. I think an iPad would be considered as something similar (I understand they are different). Since the Academy is providing the computers this year… for the first time, this may be some uncharted waters….

They have been issuing them for some time, but this year it's mandatory to take one from the school because of IT security concerns. My son is wrapping up his 3C year and has the school-issued Surface Pro without issue.

My apologies - I should have been more clear 😊. Yes, they have always been available to issue but this is the first year they are required to use the issued computer. Glad to hear that the school issued version has been good!

Wasn't correcting you to be obnoxious, just letting you know it's not that much of a change. If it were the first time the school were issuing them it would be a big deal.
