Diplopia Medical Waiver

My son was awarded a NAVY ROTC Scholarship (Awaiting USNA appointment) however we received a letter of DQ from DOD MERB for "Current or Recurrent Diplopia". We are working on additional information to send to DOD MERB. Two questions:
1. Has anyone out there received a waiver for this?
2. Any advice you can give to assist in his case relative to additional data to be supplied to DODMERB?

Much is going to depend on why he has/had the double vision. Diplopia can be caused by numerous things from simple refractive error (need for glasses) to brain tumors. It will be hard to give any particular advice without knowing the background.
