I was just doing some of the paperwork for the admin kit and I was hoping someone could answer this question for me. I've has USAA forever and we use to have a local USAA bank where I could have had them complete the "Financial Institution" section of the form and sign off on it. Not really sure what to do with the last part of this form since there is no USAA bank area around me.

My son has a USAA account and there is somewhere to go on the website to “set up direct deposit”. If you go there, it will generate a filled out direct deposit form with your son’s info and all the bank info pre-filled out. If you can’t find it on the website, I would just call the bank and they will send you a form with all the information filled in.

There's a link on the USAA website that you can use to pre-fill the 1199A. Not all the required fields (eg SSN) will be pre-filled though so you will have to handjam the rest of the info.

If you're having a hard time finding the link, then just call the USAA banking 1-800 number and a representative will do it for you. Within 5 minutes of the call, the pre-filled form will be in your USAA inbox.

So I'm still under a joint account with my parents. When i filled out that online 1199A it had my moms name as name of payee. It is my account number and everything. Is that okay?

My DD had the same problem when she called USAA. It took THREE reps to figure out how to help her. The auto-filled 1199A had me as the payee.

There is a way the rep can set up the account to where you will be the payee on that auto-filled 1199A.

The rep will need to separate your current account from your parents. Your parents will still be able to access your account when they pull up their USAA account. However, you will have your own ID and password to access your own account if the USAA rep sets it up correctly.

It was frustrating (my DD trying to explain what needed to happen), but it worked out in the end.

It got to the point where my DD put her cell phone on speaker and we were both talking to the USAA rep.

I figured it would be a simple process. Thank you so much for the help

My DD just did it and it was easy; but she had set up her own separate account a few days prior that isn’t linked to mine in any way.
