My point, is this policy/rule/reg/law/etc... is not the only one that was a PITA, that people didn't like or agree with, and "LEARNED" to put up with. Many of us here are retired or has 20+ years. We didn't go that whole time agreeing with every policy. We weighed the pros and cons and decided whether to stay with the military or get out. This is a policy she was quite well aware of prior to accepting her appointment. Only after 2 years, a days shy of commitment day did she decide she couldn't handle it. Sorry; not buying it.
However, this IS, without a doubt, the only "PITA" that requires a service member to lie in order to meet the guidelines of those policies. And where a failure to make a "sanctioned: lie could result in separation from the service.

Time will tell but my prediction is that if DADT is repealed - Katherine Miller will be a cadet at West Point next fall. She is not the first to resign and come back for various reasons and she won't be the last.

Good God, Christcorp - get over your bigotry and prejudices already!!!

LITS - I have to say after reading all of your comments pertinent to DADT; I wonder as an officer in the US Coast Guard you will be able to continue to lead appropriately if DADT is repealed.
I think it's time you sat back and took a good look at yourself and your own views and figure out if they are compatible with continued military service WHEN DADT is repealed. It's time to move forward. Can you as Admiral Mullen decrees - "comport yourself with honor"??

Speaking of Admiral Mullen - Here are his comments today:
‎"We treat people with dignity and respect in the armed forces, or we don't last long in the armed forces: No special cases, no special treatment," Mullen said. "We're going to continue to comport ourselves with honor and hold ourselves accountable across the board to impeccably high standards, repeal or no repeal."

However, this IS, without a doubt, the only "PITA" that requires a service member to lie in order to meet the guidelines of those policies. And where a failure to make a "sanctioned: lie could result in separation from the service.

Not even close. And NO, I WON'T elaborate.

You have no idea what the hell you're talking about. You believe that any comment made, not supporting this person, automatically means the poster is a bigot and prejudice. I think i can more accurately say you are ignorant, than I am a bigot or prejudice. You simply can't look at this argument objectively. You can only look at it from an emotional view point. You only see it as how it is "unfair" and "Emotionally Distressing". Sorry, but this has absolutely NOTHING to do with DADT, being gay, or anything similar. You simply WANT it to be about that. i can, and HAVE had the same argument, replacing DADT with numerous other policies/rules/etc... But I've accepted the fact that routinely will read into posts exactly what you want them to say, and not what the individual is trying to convey. I've given up and trying to clarify for you. Others? Yes. You? No.

Locking down this thread- it was buried and should have stayed buried. It's not an objective discussion- it's a political one and is going to be decided outside the realm of the Services. The thread is locked and will remain that way.
Sorry- no good is coming out of continuing this discussion- it's closed.
