The list looks as though a ACL reconstruction may be a DQ condition. Does anyone know if this is wavierable or only a problem if surgery within last 6 months. Candidate is nearly 1 year post surgery and participates in football and track with no limitations or restrictions.

I know of a kid from our area who had a torn ACL last year and was deferred for lack of the correct term. He is a Plebe this summer. That being said I don't know how bad his tear was. You should call the Admissions and they can direct you to someone who can speak knowledgably to your specific situation. Good luck.
If they had surgery and are more than 6 months post op they should be granted a waiver in most cases (none of use are medical authorities or waiver authority, this is just based upon experience). I think half my team had ACL tears prior to arrival at USNA. Fill out the paperwork honestly and be prepared to submit copies of all the paperwork. Remember that a large majority of appointees are high school athletes and many are even recruited athletes for USNA... athletes get hurt and recover. Part of the cycle that USNA is aware of.

As with all Medical Conditions, contact Admissions directly . There is a Medical Officer who is assigned to answer questions like this. NavyHoops is right, I am sure that many have gotten in with ACL repairs, but there are so many variables involved in any medical condition that it is impossible to get good advice on the internet.
