Disqualifying Medications

Does anyone know if topical retin-A cream like Tretinoin 1% is considered a systemic retinoid and therefor subject to disqualification if you've received an AROTC 4-yr scholarship? I can see that systemic retinoids are disqualifying but I can't determine whether that one is considered to fall into that category or not.

Yes it is, but it is only DQ until 4 weeks after completing therapy.

Thank you MullenLE. I did end up calling the dermatologist who told me it is NOT considered a systemic retinoid since it is topical. Now I'm conflicted, however, I will defer to your knowledge since you are coming from the DODMERB perspective. Either way, my DS uses it sparingly so I think he will wean off of it just to be on the safe side. Thank you again.

Topical retinoids for acne, such as Retin-A cream, are OK. Only when taken orally (isotretinoin, Accutane) is it DQ, and then only transiently.
