Do all Officers go through DoDmerb?

Hey so here’s the deal. I’m in ROTC right now and I’ve been medically disqualified by DoDmerb for a food allergy I had when I was a kid (it doesn’t effect me now). Regardless I’m still Waiver-Denied, 100% out with no chance of an appeal. But here’s the thing, I talked to a recruiter asking if I could go enlisted then Green to Gold and just avoid DoDmerb all together to become and Officer in the Army- he said yes. As of right now I’ve already gotten through MEPS and I’m scheduled to leave for Basic in about a month.

Here’s the thing though, I was googling more qualifications for the Green to Gold program, and I see the phrase “DoDmerb Quailfied” everywhere. So did my recruiter lie to me? I’m I really just screwed and I can never become an Officer?

Officer accession standards are likely set higher in certain areas because of different roles than enlisted. The needs of the Service, as always, rule all, and something, at this particular moment in time, may not be waived for officers but is for enlisted. There are all kinds of drivers behind when and if and why waivers are offered.

Accession standards are generally higher than standards applied while actually serving. DODMERB and MEPS apply accession standards to those entering AD for the first time. There may indeed be a more generous standard going from AD enlisted to AD officer. But - if I were in your shoes, I’d really like to know the answer to that question right now.

From a quick reference to goarmy.com you must be "DoDMERB qualified" to be part of the Green to Gold program. Obviously that program is out, not to say there is not another accession method that may work for you.

What other accession methods are you thinking of? OCS?

What the recruiter might have meant and not been lying is: You can enlist and apply to an officer program.
