So my GPA isn't that great but I was wondering if anyone thinks I have a chance of getting into the Naval Academy. Any help is greatly appreciated.
3.48 unweighted GPA
NHS
Top 11% of class
3 sport varsity athlete
2x league all star
Captain of varsity cross country
Assistant captain of varsity ice hockey
Student ambassador for state athletic board
Club founder and president
2 other clubs
3 AP classes this year, all others are honors
250 hours of community service
Ran a city wide collection for veterans that's was widely published
Not sure if this helps any but no one from my school has ever been to the naval academy and it's a low income, urban area
Thanks for all replies and advice

No one can really tell you your chances. The only thing for sure is that you have zero chance if you don't apply. I think a lot will ride on your test scores, which you don't share. Have you taken SAT/ACT?

During the "applying" process, ensure you work on Plans B, C, and D simultaneously. Just in case you don't get an appointment, you have options to fall back on. Look at ROTC scholarships to augment the cost of college. Like HopefulDad3210 stated, you never know if you don't try.

I agree on the importance of test scores, but looks pretty good so far - sounds like the kind of profile that might be a possibility for the prep school if the admissions board thinks that academics could use strengthening. Go for it!

Thanks to all for replying and yes I forgot to add my test scores! Since I'm only a junior I've only taken the sat once so far and got a 650 in math and a 660 in English and an 18 on the essay. I plan to take them again and hopefully get a 1400 composite score as I got a 1310 without really knowing much about the test and I'm in an sat prep class which will hopefully help. I haven't taken the act yet.

I'm only a junior so I've only taken the SAT once and I got a 650 in math and a 660 in English for a composite of 1310. I also got an 18 on the essay portion

Overall your not bad, I think the extra stuff could cover up for your gpa, test scores are great for the first time as well, I'm only a junior as well so I don't know how great my advice is but I asked the same question and you can read the responses I got on mine. Look into to Boys State as well because its a huge boost to your score. But best of luck hope we both get into NASS and eventually get an appointment.

Thanks for the help! And yes I'm applying tonight hope to see you there. I was wondering how you went on a CVW so early as you weren't an official candidate yet. I thought they had to contact you to go on one? Please let me know more about it.

To be entirely honest I have no clue how I got invited to one, I applied to the STEM camps and that's it. Then one day on the way to soccer practice I got an email inviting me to one no clue how I got one or why but I took it. Was an amazing experience when I went. I was also shocked to find out most of the other "drags" were also juniors and a handful of seniors so I have no clue on how it works.

Thanks, and yeah I went down there last April vacation to check it out and it's so perfect. I have backup schools but I really don't want to have to use them

Yeah same honestly I don't like to think about the possibility but have to because the SA are so selective
