GPA(unweighted): 4.05
Just finished the first semester of my freshmen year.
Female
Varsity field hockey
sorta fit(still working on it)
And DYING TO GO TO WEST POINT

What do you think my chances of going there are? I already checked all the qualifications and requirements and I still have two more years to worry about this, but I just want to be in college already. Any specific advice exercise wise? Anything is helpful, thank you. P.s. both of my parents are in the army.

Nice grades!

Start studying for the SAT or ACT (or both). Did you take the PSAT? If so, work on the areas you needed improvement on.

Here is a copy of the USMA class of 2021 profile. Grades are important but it is more important that you do well on the standardized testing!

Fitnesswise, start running....a lot! Have your parents or a PE teacher test you on the CFA. Determine what needs work and start building up on it. You have time to practice and ace this thing!

Here is a guide to the CFA:

Also seek to become a leader in all that you do. Try to become captain of the Field Hockey team. Do things without being told to do them. encourage your teammates to excel.

Thanks to your mom and dad for their service and thanks to you for wanting to Go Army!

Good luck!

When you’re able, feel free to PM me. I can send you some push-up and pull-up improvement links and individualize some feedback for you. I will additionally inform you of some things to be wary of in the future.

thank you for the advice

Yes - you have a good chance, better than many. Keep your grades up, seek out leadership positions in clubs, varsity sports and community service. Schedule in the time to practice for the SATs/ACTs as much as you can, so you can submit really good scores. Best of luck!

Please make sure that you understand the mission of West Point and what life in the Army is about after you graduate.
Wanting to attend West Point is a great goal but the end goal needs to be service to our Nation as an officer in the Army.
Mic drop.

Agree 100%. If any other school that offers AROTC but isn’t exactly a Service Academy catches your eye, don’t ignore it. It’d be wise to apply to it and for an AROTC scholarship. Keep in mind that both USMA and AROTC graduates both commission as 2nd Lieutenants in the U.S. Army. The only difference is the commissioning programs...if you are an ARTOC kid who isn’t going to VMI, The Citadel, MMI, or a school like that, then you’ll be living a somewhat “normal college life...” whereas at those schools or at West Point, the military is your daily routine and you will never be a “normal college student.”

I understand and agree, I will take that into consideration. However, I would prefer going to a military school.

However, I would prefer going to a military school.

Given you prefer a military style education, be sure you check out the Senior Military Colleges as a Plan "B."

You can reapply to USMA and also qualify for an ROTC nom while attending one of these colleges. They include VMI, The Citadel, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Norwich, and University of North Georgia.

Best of luck at reaching your goal of an appointement to USMA.
