I've heard from some other accepted cadets in my area about getting name tapes. Though I have not heard anything from USMA about this.

Do I need to get some name tapes before R-Day?

Definitely get a couple. USMA will supply you with two (?) but you'll need more than that for after CBT/should they get lost.

My last name is two words with a space in between them. As an example say my last name is [Coca Cola] but I only go by Coca. On legal documents it says [Coca Cola] but to make it easier for everyone I prefer to be called Coca. Should I get nameplates with Coca Cola or only Coca on them? or both?

Definitely buy a few more nametapes. As well as U.S. Army and flags. They’re relatively cheap and you’ll more than likely lose a few during CBT.

“Last Name”, “U.S. Army” and reverse American Flag in the appropriate camo pattern that Velcro onto military uniforms.

Bought mine here ~$40 with shipping for 3 "Last name", 3 "US army" and 3 reverse flags

West Point will give you a few Velcros. After Beast, you are allowed to buy sew-on nametapes, but keep in mind they have to be standardized, meaning that all of your patches (not just your nametapes) will have to be consistent and also sewn on.

Both. They're issued but you're going to want to get some in case you lose the ones WP gives you.

This. You will also need some during the school year anyways (wear and losing some). Also, something to pass to a battlebuddy if they happen to be missing a their own nametape, until they can retrieve their own.

You'll get issued a couple sets. However, it is highly recommended to bring a couple more US Army and name tapes and US flag in case you lose them. Make sure they're the velcro kind.

We got a couple extra sets for DD, but she forget them at home. We were able to get the US Army and US flag at the PX. She survived with what West Point issued.
