Ok so here's my dilemma, every year during 3rd quarter my entire school has to do "third quarter presentations". Basically you research a given topic, write an annotated bibliography, write a 15 page research paper and give a presentation to your teachers and principal.
This year I am comparing war tactics, training, and perception from ancient Rome to today but the catch is, the bulk of my research has to be through a specific form of media (movies). Does anyone know of any good war documentaries or documentaries about training for the army? Oh, and it has to be from the 21st century. Sorry for the lengthy post, and thanks for reading!

Check out national geographic. I know Netflix Instant has documentaries about Green Beret training, I think other branches too.

If you're talking about documentary films on war in the 21st century, one of the best is "The Fog of War" with former Defense Secretary Robert McNamara on Vietnam. Its an important film on that war and you owe it to yourself to check it out and you may find the material you're looking for.

Good luck

The fog of war was banned because it revolves heavily around wars from the 20th century and I've watched Restrepo a few times to analyze the content, music, and camera angles, and Im strongly considering using it. I'm trying to find Documentaries about training more than before just because you can turn how civilians are being trained into info about tactics, societal perceptions and weaponry

Can you help clarify if you want suggestions on documentaries or feature films? There are dozens of each.

There was a Walter Cronkite documentary series on WWII. The History Channel had another. Victory at Sea was very thorough. There is the whole series of "Surviving the Cut" that explores military special forces training.

For feature films "Flags of our Fathers" had tactics, training and perception. "Sands of Iwo Jima had training segments, as did "Band of Brothers". "We were soldiers Once" and "Patton" both explore tactics.

This is such a broad topic and has been covered in so many ways that making any list (as I started above) will be woefully inadequate.

If you can narrow it down, I am sure you will get some great ideas.

Ok, so series are not allowed (already tried surviving the cut), they need to made earlier than 2000, because we were only born in 98', I would prefer the piece to address multiple aspects of the military. One that involved both physical and cyber warfare would be fantastic but I'm yet to find one that does. Something that stresses aspects of war that are unique to the 21st century. Thanks so much for the help, I know I'm being pretty picky

Correction, need to be mode NO earlier than 2000 and must be about events in the 21st century documentaries or feature film
