I have a question about the overall DODMERB Process. I've read through some forums, but want confirm or be clarified of the process.

1. Completed DODMERB physical on 8/2/2019
2. DODMERB site posted "Incomplete"
3. On 8/9/2019 DODMERB site posted "Complete as of 8/9". Noting "it is being reviewed by a CIV case manager."
4. My question and/or Clarification: Once reviewed it should change to "Closed" and then sent from DODMETS to DODMERB. (Should be around 2 weeks to this point 8/16?)
5. DODMERB gives us a determination of results and sends this to the Academy (a 2-4 week process).
6. So entire process for it to be finally be posted on the Academy Website and task completed could take from 4-6 weeks.

Is this the correct overall process and time frame??

Newbie mom of a DS who just did this, so only based on his experience this is how it went for him - He only looked at the DODMETs site until it showed 'complete and sent.' Only then did he start monitoring the DODMERB site. The exam was received by them the same day it was sent and closed at DODMET. DODMERB said the exam was reviewed the day after it was received. That review process took a few days (and a personal statement remedial) later he was qualified. It took about 2 weeks for that letter to be sent to USNA, and their portal noted the medical exam was complete. However, for USMA the qualification letter was noted on DODMERB the same day they requested the exam reviewed (yesterday). But the portal hasn't updated there, yet. Hope that helps. From what I read it's really different for everyone and the speed at which things are reviewed/processed depends on how busy they are, both at DODMETS and DODMERB.

I appreciate the thread and info, our DS has DODMERB medical on Monday and eye on Wednesday.

good info. Our DS is in the DODMET 'being reviewed by CIV team' status. Hopefully getting this started early helps it keep progressing along. Thank you

This is how the complete process went for my son:

· DODMERBs questions completed on July 2nd, 2019

· Physical and Eye doctor appointments made on July 15th, 2019

· Physical and Eye doctor appointments completed on August 2nd, 2019

· DODMETs received and began reviewing on August 5th, 2019

· DODMETs noted “COMPLETE” on August 9th, 2019

· DODMETs noted “COMPLETE & ON HOLD” on August 13th, 2019

· DODMETs noted “CLOSED” on August 20th, 2019

· DODMERB account created on August 20th, 2019

· DODMERBs noted “EXAM REVIEWED” (AKA - information being reviewed) on August 21st, 2019

· DODMERBs emailed and posted on website “US NAVAL ACADEMY - QUALIFIED” (pdf letter attached in e-mail) on August 23rd, 2019

Thanks, I had found that when I was looking at FAQ's so I could possible be ahead of the game if any issues popped up. Now his status is basically, CIV has found errors and is working with the provider to correct. I am not surprised, heard Dr. in hallway say, "remind me how these go?" not comforting at all. Will just wait it out for the next step.
Probably forgot to check a box or used blue ink. They’ll get it fixed.

Yeah, not stressing. It's kind of comic, our DS and I heard the doc say it and we were like, seriously?? We just rolled our eyes and went with it when he came in. Nice guy though!

DS two years ago had a DR that was a ‘substitute’ for the regular DR. DS was the first one she had ever done. There really isn’t much to it. The paperwork is probably more challenging for a ‘newbie’ than the actual exam. Im sure DODMERB is adept at dealing with incomplete/illegible/mistakes on exams. I would just keep a close eye on the progression of it all. It’s still very early. No worries.

DS had his appointment on 30 July. On 14 Aug, they requested an Athletics/Recreational Participation Questionnaire and final ortho report from Dr. for a fractured scaphoid repair that required surgery in 2015. Yesterday, he was notified that he received a "qualified" status for the USNA, and "potential pilot qualified" for USAFA.

Less than a month to complete. This is our first go round with this process, but I think start to finish in a months time is pretty good.

For anyone reading, I recommend you check the website daily for notifications, and complete the items immediately.

Our DS is still in the DODMETS 'error in paperwork' stage. I called Dr. office, they said they knew about it and were working on it. I let her know that the Dr. had expressed lack of familiarity with process. That's when she offered to check into it. They didn't call me back as they said they would. So I reached out today and they seem to be more aware of issue and said they will complete their stuff today. We shall see. Frustrating to have a non proficient Dr. potentially creating error or issue. I will just stay on top of it and wait, albeit not very patiently.

My DS' DoDMERB status went from "Disqualified" to "Under Waiver Review" to "Under DoDMERB Review" all in one day... I assume this is due to a follow-up medical report that was submitted to DoDMERB yesterday.

Can anyone with experience/knowledge "confirm" that the current status could mean that DoDMERB is re-reviewing my DS' DQ status and asked the SA waiver process to be put on hold until the DoDMERB review has been accomplished?

@GLJQ, IMHO, and I am going from ONE personal experience, once a "Waiver" is requested, even if DoDMERB "Qualifies", it is still up to the individual Waiver Authority to make the final determination. Our DS was initially DQ'd for a misdiagnosis, both ROTC and the SA initiated Waiver proceedings. We sent in quite a bit of AMI showing the misdiagnosis and DoDMERB then "Qualified" him, however his ROTC and SA portals did not reflect DoDMERB's change because the waiver had been initiated. He had to wait for the "Waiver Authorities" to review and accept DoDMERB's change. It added about a month to the whole process, but eventually (I guess after reviewing DoDMERB's AMI and decision) they all Qualified him. DS's twin, needed a Remedial and was "Qualified" pretty quickly. The difference was no waiver process was initiated on DS's twin, just a remedial. DoDMERB explained to DS that once someone initiates a "Waiver" it is then no longer DoDMERB's prevue to intervene, just advise the authority of the new information.

Bottom line is even if you DS's DoDMERB changes to "Qualified" it does not automatically mean his portal will also change immediately, there may be a lag. That is when your DS needs to stay in close contact with his admissions staff at either ROTC or the academies. But I believe that if DoDMERB "Q's" him, the Waiver Authority will likely follow suit, it may just a take a little while. Hang in there, this isn't a sprint but a marathon, hopefully DoDMERB will "Q" him, and the waiver authorities will follow suit shortly thereafter.
