    Hello!

So in about (approximately) a week, I will be taking a DoDMETS/DoDMERB Medical Examination (I will be doing eye examination after this medical examination). But I have few questions:

    1. I'm applying to USMA and USCGA, and I believe the DoDMETS/DoDMERB request came from USCGA (as my USMA portal says there's "No Action" on my DoDMETS/DoDMERB yet). Am I allowed to use this DoDMETS/DoDMERB results for USMA as well? Or do I have to take a separate medical examination AGAIN for USMA? Also, if I can use DoDMETS/DoDMERB (one that was originally requested by USCGA), how do I let USMA know about this?

    2. I'm actually kind of nervous about the medical examination..... How does medical examination work for DoDMETS/DoDMERB? Is it just simple as if I'm going to a doctor for a medical check-up?

    3. What do I need to bring to the medical examination? (any documents that I need to take to the medical examinee from DoDMETS/DoDMERB website?)

ALSO... I have one other question that is not related to this one..:
I have a nomination interview coming up soon and I'm extremely nervous. How long is the interview typically? Also, do I need to prepare anything (ex. resume, written notes of what to say during the interview.., etc,.) prior to entering the interview?

Thank you so much and any responses would be great! This forum/website has been helping me so much that I was able to get a lot of my application sections done (just need to take CFA this month and edit/finish up the writing portion!).

    1. You can use your DoDMERB exam for all academies you're applying to. Once USMA requests your exam, your results will be forwarded automatically. Nothing needs to happen on your part on that.

    2. It's pretty simple, I took mine in September. You go in, do a hearing check, basic vital checkup, and then a doctor will come in and go down the list of conditions on the DoDMERB survey you took. Anything that you checked yes on they will ask you some follow up questions on. Know when your conditions were diagnosed and details of the history, they will write this down. It's very straightforward, the doctors are there to help you. There is no urine test.

    3. Bring the printout of your survey from the DoDMETS website. There is a tab at the top of the page that will show you the exact PDF you need to bring. Don't forget this, it's what the doctor uses for your examination. If you have any medical conditions, I'd have your doctor write a short letter saying whatever is asymptomatic, medications you're on, etc etc etc. I don't know if it helped me but who knows.

It's really not that bad, I was very nervous going in as I had a few things I knew I would have trouble with (spoiler alert: after a few remedials they turned out fine) but it's good to be prepared.

On your nominations: My senatorial nomination interview only lasted ten minutes or so. I brought three copies of my resume with a photocopy of the LOA stapled to the back of each. It really wasn't that bad of an interview, I can PM you the list of questions they asked me if you'd like. I did a practice interview at my school which helped a lot, but if you just know what you'd say for each of the basic questions and then are able to be candid during the actual thing you'll be fine. I tried to be super relaxed (but not casual!) and recognized that my interview board was too, and incorporated some humor etc. along with a level of seriousness when it came to discussing the heavier topics. I got notified that I got the nomination about a week later, though it is still not in my portal.

I'm happy to answer any questions you have about any of it, I am done with the process so I can try and be of as much help as I can.

Can you also PM me the questions your interviewer ask you? I’m not really nervous but I would like a large sample size I gues you can say.

@AmazingOne1, there are many threads on this forum re nomination interviews, including a really good one recently (from a USAFA candidate, I believe) that listed a lot of actual questions. Please use the search function above to find them.

To all who are asking for nomination interview questions, I wrote them down after my interviews last cycle (haven’t interviewed yet this cycle). If you’d like them, please send me a message and I’d be happy to help!
